On the first day of school, a boy named Hikaru Suzuki sees a talented girl named Sayaka performing lines from a drama on the school's rooftop, and he cannot take his eyes off her. Even as Hikaru becomes interested in Sayaka, his longtime friend Chihiro secretly pines for him. On top of that, a boy named Shinobu Suzuki — no relation to Hikaru — is falling for Chihiro. This is basically a clip show of the best scenes from the manga, it even says as much at the beginning of the first episode. It doesn't even attempt to tell a complete story of its own. Having never read the manga, I had no idea what was going on, who any of the characters were or who was in love with who. I'm sure if you've read the manga, it's great, but as a standalone show it's useless. The second episode was better than the first, but that's not saying very much. The art and music were decent enough, but not amazing, and the voice acting was unremarkable. Maybe I'll enjoy this more if I watch it again once I've read the manga, but if you haven't read the manga, don't waste your time watching this. 2 of 2 episodes seen lilyyanglee(All reviews)

Instead of watching the anime go read the manga. It's so cute and adorable. The anime is horrid. Story: The story itself is okay, since I read the manga I understood but if I hadn't, the story wouldn't make sense. Jumping from one big moment to the next. Art: The anime art is eeh okay. Didn't like all the extra little weird way you made each character. For example sometimes how they walk. Sound: The characters' voices are a bit odd. For example when the characters were 13, they sound like they're already going through major puberty changes. Character: I understood each characters' roles. But again it's always jumping from one big moment to the next. Enjoyment: I dreaded watching this. It's not a fine piece of work. Overall: I did not like this. I would not watch it again. In fact I didn't even bother to finish both episodes. It was poor work. Why would anyone decide to publish this. Just tarnishes the manga and author. JUST READ IT!!! 2 of 2 episodes seen Jenangelx3(All reviews)

Yes, I get that it is an honor to have your work turned into an anime, but really, Go-sensei should have been more strict with what was done with her manga. They took an adorable manga and clipped it into an OVA that's completely disjointed in plot and incapable of being enjoyed seeing as you do not understand who any of the characters are. The artwork is still true of Go-sensei's manga, which I gave the series points for. It's still beautiful when it has to be and chibi/silly where it should be. The animation itself seems cheap and lazy though, which is frustrating, but I guess it' just an OVA. The inclusion of episode 2 seems really weird to me considering it is following some sort of plot, and even references parts of a plot we do not see, but it is a good way to get to know the characters. I liked episode 2 way better than the first, but again, it's a little disjointed in plot, but at least you get a better feel for the actual series. My advice? Read the manga. You'll have spent your time better.
